On Wednesday, November 27, the conference on public and private aspects of energy efficiency Who owns Energy Efficiency? Who pays and who benefits? was held at the Golden Tulip Zira Hotel and organized by RES Foundation in cooperation with the Belgrade Open School.
With the support of the Heinrich Boell Foundation, RES Foundation is implementing a project whose aim is to help students, young politicians, emerging politicians, participants in the implementation of public policies, as well as investigative journalists, to think about the relationship between public and private benefits as well as public and private investments in improvement of energy efficiency. The project is being implemented at a time when the taxpayers of the Republic of Serbia will invest almost 100 million euros of borrowing money in improving energy efficiency with the participation of hundreds of officials from over 130 municipalities and cities.
In the first set, RES Foundation team presented the main findings of their research on energy efficiency financing mechanisms, in order to bring the topic of energy efficiency closer to those who will in future tackle the processes of maintaining and improving the public good in the Republic of Serbia and help them make informed choices in the best interest of citizens of Serbia.
The second block was dedicated to the role of young people in the combat against climate change. Two young delegates from Baku, Zvezdana Božović and Filip Blagojević, presented their experiences from the recently concluded United Nations COP 29 conference, and brought the concept and meaning of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change closer to the attendees, as well as specifically this year’s event, its goals, flow and outcomes.
The conversation continued in an informal tone with lunch and coffee.
