On Wednesday, October 30, the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities and RES Foundation organized discussions on public and private aspects of energy efficiency in the premises of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities in Belgrade, starting at 11:00 a.m.

With the support of the Heinrich Boell Foundation, RES Foundation is implementing a project whose goal is to help students, young politicians, participants in the implementation of public policies, as well as investigative journalists to think about the relationship between public and private benefits as well as public and private investments in the energy efficiency improvement. The project is being implemented at a time when the taxpayers of the Republic of Serbia will invest almost 100 million euros of borrowing money in improving energy efficiency with the participation of hundreds of officials from over 130 municipalities and cities.

During the discussion, the RES Foundation team presented the findings of case studies in order to bring the topic of energy efficiency closer to those who will carry out the processes of maintaining and improving the public good in the Republic of Serbia and to help everyone make informed choices in the best interest of the citizens of Serbia.

The case studies that were presented to the present representatives of local governments, civil society, students and politicians are:

  1. The project “Clean energy and energy efficiency for citizens”, financed by a loan from the World Bank, presented by the program director of the RES Foundation, Jasminka Young
  2. “Public ESCO Project”, financed by a grant and loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (in preparation), which was reviewed by the Program Director of the RES Foundation, Aleksandar Matsura

Filip Blagojević presented the research findings of RES Foundation, which was followed by an exchange of experiences and ideas between participants.
