RES Foundation and the Municipality of Priboj, hosted a study visit in the period from 15-18.11.2021, where partners from Germany, Western Macedonia (Greece) and Kamenica (Kosovo *) visited Belgrade and Priboj. During three days, about 15 participants of this program had the opportunity to get acquainted primarily with the results of work on the implementation of energy transition in Priboj, but also with other development and investment projects, as well as with the culture and history of southwestern Serbia and Priboj. Participants visited several energy facilities in Priboj, including the newly opened city biomass heating plant, and had the opportunity to obtain detailed information about the Priboj Free Zone, and Priboj’s plans and vision for further transformation of the municipality and region through conversation with municipal leaders.
The study visit, which is being implemented within the Project “Green Rural Deal”, enabled international partners to exchange experiences and knowledge on ways and tools for evaluating transformation strategies, programs and projects, to exchange ideas on future joint projects and opportunities for cooperation, with the aim of contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, mitigation of the negative consequences of climate change as well as the improvement of the quality of the environment.
The Municipality of Priboj, as one of the selected regions / municipalities for the implementation of this Project, with the support of the RES Foundation, is preparing a Development Plan, as its unique, the most important strategic document which determines the development opportunities and priorities of Priboj for the next 10 years, and which is be finished by the end of the year.
The project “Green Rural Deal” is implemented within the Program “European Climate Initiative” (EUKI) funded by the German Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection “with the aim of providing an integrated approach to the processes of transformation and green rural transition”.
