Youth Forum European Movement in Serbia in cooperation with Association for Sustainable Development organized the panel discussion on “Renewable energy sources for more energy efficient future”. RES Foundation Co-founder Aleksandar Macura was one of the speakers.
Participants of the panel have tried to explain the benefits of using renewable energy sources through environmental, legal and economic aspects. It was pointed out that the potentials of Serbia in renewable energy are substantial, but they are not used enough, according to current data, only around a half of the annual energy needs of the country.
It was also stated that coal currently dominates in electricity production, but in the future renewable energy sources must be the “backbone” of the energy system in Serbia, to be stable and sustainable.
The audience developed an in-depth debate with the panelists, which only confirmed the relevance of these issues to our youth!
